Green Trough - Preferred cable ducting for the Great Western Electrification Programme (GWEP).
TTS Rail were shortlisted by the Network Rail project team on the Great Western Electrification Programme (GWEP) to provide the polymer troughing to the project. The Network Rail team were impressed at the installation trials conducted at Wootton Bassett, where TTS Green Trough was trialled against four competitors’ products of polymer and concrete.
This success prompted the team to support the use of TTS Green Trough on the project. UK Power Networks (UKPNS) won the installation contract and employed TTS to design and supply the troughing systems for the cable route and sub-stations.
Phase 1 involved an initial order for 45km of Green Trough of which 35km has already been delivered. TTS co-ordinated and managed the complex logistics to supply large volumes of troughing to the work site on schedule and minimising transportation costs.
Several bespoke polymer trough units have been designed for the project by TTS as a result of requests from the UKPNS design team. These new units interface with the existing concrete troughs and the cable draw chambers for the under track crossings (UTX).
The UKPNS project management team welcomed the service level provision and professionalism of the TTS staff.
