Network Rail issues new safety advice about manual handling of troughing products following ORR prohibition and improvement notices.

Network Rail have recently issued to all staff and contractors engaged in the specification, installation, renewal and disposal of troughing products, a safety notice which prohibits from immediate effect the manual lifting, carrying and team handling of C143 conventional concrete troughing.

All of the TTS Green Trough systems comply with the new requirement and can be compared directly with the concrete troughing on the HSE MAC Tool assessment of concrete and polymer trough products.

TTS Rail at the Quadrant MK

Gary Elliott from TTS Rail recently demonstrated Green Trough at The Quadrant in Milton Keynes, Network Rail's National Centre of railway operations. Home to over 3,000 people under one roof, the event showcased the new anti-slip walkway system and the versatility of the TTS cable troughing units across many diverse applications.

With weight savings of up to 83%, many visitors to the demonstrations were impressed by the TTS system’s cost and on-site handling advantages over the more unwieldy products such as concrete.

Another exciting development coming soon will be the TTS elevated system, an innovative above-ground level cable management solution showcasing at Railtex 2015 in May.

London Bridge Trough Route

Balfour Beatty is using the large TTS 430 series troughs on the London Bridge station approach viaduct, part of the Thameslink Programme – Key Output 2 project.

This complex project involves a suspended trough route on both the top and the outside of the viaduct walls and navigates many fixed obstructions and safety recesses along the route.

Balfour Beatty designers worked closely with the TTS team to develop the optimum route keeping the bespoke units to a minimum.

NWR Great Western Electrification Project

The UK Power Network Services and ABB Consortium, have awarded TTS the contract to supply troughing for the NWR Great Western Electrification Project running from Maidenhead to Cardiff, commencing in September 2014 through to 2017.
